1. FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY OWERRI: This is popularly known as FUTO is rated as the best and the oldest technological and Engineering school in Nigeria. It was founded by the federal government of Nigeria in 1980 and located in Owerri, Imo State. It’s permanent site was approved by Imo State government in 1982. FUTO began with 225 students and 60 staffs, both academic and non-academic staffs. It has six faculties and thirty three departments under it namely;

3. Ladoke Akintola University of Technology: Popularly known as LAUTECH was rated as the third best Technology university in Nigeria and also the best state university in Nigeria. It was established in 1987 under the regime of Governor Adetunji Olurin. Lautech was named after Late Samuel Ladoke Akintola, a Nigerian Political,Lawyer and Orator that was born in Ogbomosho, Oyo state. It has nine faculties, a college and forty eight which forty two are accredited courses.

The foundation is owned by Olusegun Obasanjo, the Ex-President of Nigeria. The creation of Enugu State out of Anambra by the Military President, General Ibrahim Gbadamasi Babangida in 1991 lead to the transformation of ASUTECH to ESUT.
