Officially recognized Technology university approved by National Universities Commission of Nigeria is a co-educational higher institutions aimed at advancing engineering and scientific research or professional vocational education specialized in Science, Engineering, Technology and different sort of technical subjects. Top universities with this often offers a broader process of intellectual development. Below are ten top Science and Technology institutions in Nigeria;

1. FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY OWERRI: This is popularly known as FUTO is rated as the best and the oldest technological and Engineering school in Nigeria. It was founded by the federal government of Nigeria in 1980 and located in Owerri, Imo State. It’s permanent site was approved by Imo State government in 1982. FUTO began with 225 students and 60 staffs, both academic and non-academic staffs. It has six faculties and thirty three departments under it namely;

I. School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT) which compromises of eight departments

II. School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET) which compromises of nine departments

III. School of Health Technology (SOHT) which has a total number of five departments

IV. School of Management Technology (SMAT) which has a total number of five departments

V. School of Social Science(SOSC) which comprises of six departments in total

VI. Post Graduate School (PGS).

2. FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, AKURE: Popularly known as FUTA is rated as the second best Technology university in Nigeria and was founded in 1981 under the Federal government of Nigeria to create university that is specialized in producing graduate with pratical and theoretical knowledge of Technology and Engineering. It compromises of seven faculties and a total number of fifty six departments. The faculties are;

I. School of Science (SOS).

II. School of Earth and Mineral Science (SEMS).

III. School of Environmental Technology(SET)

IV. School of Engineering and Engineering Technology(SEET)

V. School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology(SAAT)

VI. School of Management Technology(SMAT)

VII. School of Post Graduate Students (SPGS)

VIII. School of Health Technology (SOHT)

IX. School of Computing (SOC).

3. Ladoke Akintola University of Technology: Popularly known as LAUTECH was rated as the third best Technology university in Nigeria and also the best state university in Nigeria. It was established in 1987 under the regime of Governor Adetunji Olurin. Lautech was named after Late Samuel Ladoke Akintola, a Nigerian Political,Lawyer and Orator that was born in Ogbomosho, Oyo state. It has nine faculties, a college and forty eight which forty two are accredited courses.

The faculties are;

I. Faculty of Basic Medical Science which has eight departments

II. Faculty of Clinical Science having 10 departments

III. Faculty of Agricultural Science having six departments in total.

IV. Faculty of Environmental Science having three departments

V. Faculty of Engineering and Technology having seven departments in total

VI. Faculty of Pure and Applied Science having a total number of seven departments

VII. Faculty of Management Science having two departments

VIII. Faculty of Computing Information having three departments and

IX. Faculty of Consumer Science having two departments.

4. Federal University of Technology Minna: This is popularly known as FUTMINNA, located in Minna-Bida road, Niger State. It was rated as the fourth best university in Nigeria and founded in February 1st 1983 by the Federal government and listed in the guide to higher education in Africa. It has 10 faculties and 49 departments. The faculties are;

I. School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT)

II. School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET)

III. School of Infrastructure (SOI)

IV. School of Engineering and Technology (SCET).

V. School of Innovation and Technology (SIT)

VI. School of Environmental Technology(SET).

IX. School of Science, Technology and Education (SSTE)

X. School of Post Graduate Student (SPGS).

5. BELLS UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY: This is also known as BELLSTECH. It was established in 2004 and located in Ota, Ogun State. It is the first private university in Nigeria and is owned by Bells Educational Foundation which compromises of Nursery, Primary, Secondary and University. The foundation is owned by Olusegun Obasanjo, the Ex-President of Nigeria. It’s is declared as one of the best Technology university in Nigeria and it’s aim is to disseminate and apply the knowledge of Science and Engineering for human well bring and development of the society. It has seven colleges and thirty five departments. The colleges and the number of departments are;

I. College of Applied Science which has ten departments

II. College of Information Communication Technology which haa two departments

III. College of Food Science which has four departments

IV. College of Management Science which has five departments in total

V. College of Engineering which have seven departments in total

VI. College of Environmental Science which have six departments

V. College of Post Graduate Student.

6. ENUGU STATE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY: This is popularly known as ESUT and was first founded as Anambra State University of Technology on the 30th of July, 1979 by the executive Governor of Anambra State. The creation of Enugu State out of Anambra by the Military President, General Ibrahim Gbadamasi Babangida in 1991 lead to the transformation of ASUTECH to ESUT. The university is know and rated as one of the top best technology university in Nigeria. It serves as a Catalyst in the Technological advancement of people and to ensure the development of quality man power that will utilize technology for the service of the nation. It has nine faculties and some departments under them which are;

I. Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resource Management having four facilities in total.

II. Faculty of Applied Natural Resources having seven faculties.

III. Faculty of Education having nineteen departments

IV. Faculty of engineering having seven departments.

V. Faculty of Environmental Science having seven departments.

VI. Faculty of law having four departments

VII. Faculty of Management Science having eight departments.

VIII. Facility of Pharmaceutical Science having five departments and

7. RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY: This is popularly known as RSUST. It was established in 1972 as a university college before it was changed in 1980 as a University. It is located in Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State and it’s the first technology and state owned school in the Niger Delta region in Nigeria. It was established to produce technical and scientific man power of various level needed for essential development and assist in industrial development programmes. It has 10 faculties and sixty departments in total.

II. Faculty of Engineering having seven departments.

III. Faculty of Agriculture having having nine departments

IV. Faculty of Environmental Science having five departments

V. Faculty of Management Science having five departments

VI. Faculty of Medical Science having two departments

8. CROSS RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY: This is also known as CRUTECH was established in 2002 as a state university by Gov. Mr. Donald Etim Duke after merging three higher institutions together which are the Polytechnic of Calabar, The College of Education and Ibrahim Babangida College of Agriculture. It is said to be the Eight best Technology university in Nigeria and it’s aim is to provide basic research and training to equip Students in all all areas of Technology. It compromises of six Colleges and forty five departments in total.

The colleges are;

I. College of Science, Technology and Engineering

II. College of Education

III. College of Agriculture

IV. College of Management

V. College of Health Science

VI. College of Environmental Science.

9. MODIBBO ADAMA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, YOLA: This is popularly known as MAUTECH. This is a research university located in Girei, Adamawa State, Northern eastern Nigeria. It was established in 1981 for the purpose of advancing Science based research and to grow a centre to teaching. It is made up of seven faculties/schools and 51 departments in total. The faculties are;

I. School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT)

II. School of Environmental Science (SES)

III. School of Management Information Technology (SMIT)

IV. School of Pure and Applied Science (SPAS)

V. School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET)

VI. School of Technology, Science and Education.(STSE)

10. ONDO STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY: This is popularly known as OSUSTECH. It is a state owned university established in 2008 and located in Okitipupa, South Senatorial district of Ondo State. It is rated as one of the best Technology school in Nigeria and it’s aim is to provide the needed man power training inorder to address the critical areas of industrial and Technological development of Ondo State and Nigeria at large. It comprises of four faculties and thirty departments.

The faculties are;

II. Faculty of Engineering and Engineering Technology

III. Faculty of Earth Science

IV. Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Aquatic Resources.
